Complete Umrah Rituals Guide
The steps of Umrah explained
What is Umrah?
Umrah is the lesser pilgrimage that Muslims can perform at any time of year. It is a deeply rewarding act of worship that brings pilgrims close to the sacred sites of Makkah and Madinah.
The steps of Umrah explained
Before beginning Umrah a pilgrim enters Ihram at one of the appointed stations (Meeqat), wearing the simple garments of pilgrimage and keeping the associated rules.
Step by Step
In the Grand Mosque the pilgrim performs Tawaf - circling the Kaaba seven times anti-clockwise - then prays two units at the Station of Ibrahim, drinks Zamzam, and runs between Safa and Marwah (Sa'i) seven times.
Tips for the Rituals
The rite concludes with shaving or trimming the hair. Keep your Ihram well-maintained, stay hydrated, and be considerate of fellow pilgrims in the crowds.
